Dollops of sky

With autumn almost over and winter beginning to saunter in we decided to bath in lots and lots of Vitamin D at Fort Yargo State park. Starting off at mid afternoon we drove from Buckhead Atlanta to the location. Located between Atlanta and Athens, this popular park features a 1792 log fort built by settlers for protection against Creek and Cherokee Indians.

The park also features dog friendly cottages and cabins. However, the lake beach does not allow dogs. Of course the park also has RV and tent camping sites and is best suited for most of the outdoor activities.

We were happy resting our butts near the lake listening to ripples and the crunches of fallen leaves.

Not much in hiking mood we wanted to make the day simple and memorable sharing collected talks by walking the trail line. As you walk you can spot mushrooms everywhere with some signboards mentioning the species found in the forest. We took an interesting turn and spot a log cabin overlooking the lake. Time for perfect instagram moments my iphone got filled with countless images.

Overnight guests can choose from fully equipped cottages, adventure cabins or cozy campsites. You can reserve lakeside “glamping” Yurts, which are permanent canvas and wooden "tents." Each yurt has furniture and electricity inside and a fire ring, picnic table and grill outside.
