Greenwood Cemetery Brooklyn, now a National Historic landmark is gonna take you from awe to wonders. A centerpiece for art, architecture and landscape and one of the two green spaces dominating the center of Brooklyn, other being the Prospect park.

I had to persuade one of my close friend during our stay in New York conference of our respective hubbies. Luckily she agreed avoiding the fact it is a spooky place.
Reaching there we were welcomed by the lady at the counter handling us with the cemetery map.
Founded in 1838 as one of the country's first cemeteries, this cemetery was the idea of Henry Evelyn Pierrepont, a Brooklyn social leader.
The most interesting feature is not the chapel but its gates at 25th street, designed by Richard Upjohn in Gothic Revival style. The main entrance to the cemetery was built in 1861 which has three pinnacles towers that divide the two pointed arch entrances, depicting biblical scenes from the New Testament.
Ranging from the angels to the sky touching tombs, i find it all mournfully beautiful.

The best part is the cemetery is constructed on high hills, like it didn't want the graves to cut off from the NYC's beauty. Skyline amidst the tombs and towers looked worth admiring. You should once behold the beauty from their lands.
The green is greener than any spring leaves.
(Spookiness is in vogue)
It was like visiting the other side of the world, the part which is only included in 'abandoned'.Majestic and surrounded with people whom i dont know and who dont know me, yet so much connected between the earth and sky.
