Dongtai Lu Market, China

During our stay in Shanghai on the pretext of my hubby's assignment I happened to list down few markets of interests. A long list materialized. Striking out the garments and jewelery shops I opt for something rare and my first choice was the Dongtai Lu antique market, located a couple of minutes away from Loaximen station and opposite the pet market.
An open market selling antiques was worth a show. It was like entering a museum where you can pick up anything from vintage starting from mementoes of Shanghai, war pilot statues, Chinese dolls, metal Buddha, watches and other novelties.

One section of stall selling metal utensils and china clay products.

Some tattered old photographs for sale.

Vintage collection of chess board and sixteen pieces.

At the end of the market there was a scene of interest. Two men making noisy moves on a board which resembled a tic tac toe. Though i knew little about the game it was fun watching their enthusiasm.

Tips

Always carry tour bargaining skill. Don't buy anything at a price the seller say, just barter away. Angela has got quite a valuable tips how to bargain away and common terms to use to impress the seller.
