Stone Mountain Park, Atlanta
Anindya got two days off which called for a great weekend, and summer camping seem no less than a good idea in the hot and humid September in Atlanta. We along with two more adorable couples, the Patils and the Anands; decided to camp in the famous Stone Mountain Park.
DAY 1
One of the famous attraction spot in Atlanta, Georgia we picked our date cleverly not to miss out the laser light shows and the summit sky ride.
43 mins drive from Atlanta downtown we hitched our tents on the camping ground near the lakeside view.
You can reach either by Marta changing station at Kensington station and get on train pointing the Indian Creek or board a Bus 121 at Kensington. Though it is not a direct route and quite time consuming i suggest taking Uber or lyft.
I never fixed a tent before and it was definitely a new thing to learn. While the men co operated in the tent set up, i enjoyed watching them digging and anchoring the poles strong against the rustic wind.

All done and settled, the tent looks pretty good. Cheerios to the men!
A big smile of victory as the men sit back tired and relaxed...

we women didn't lose the chance to pose for a click.
The paddling of the ducks and two giant flower shaped mushrooms were some of the spectacular views.Late afternoon, we tried to entertain ourselves making tea out of wood stocks and burning coals. Huh that was lot of an effort keeping up the flames. Ani definitely mocked at the idea of giving up because of the direct smoke on my face.
--Things to do--
According the manual provided to us, there were two major activities:
-A trail journey to the mountain top
-Laser show to be enjoyed in late evening.
In no time we refreshed ourselves and with camera and food we backpacked to catch the tour bus. A bus arrives at every 15 mins from the camping ground and will take you direct to the park since no car is allowed after this point.

The bus halt after 15 mins travelling the steep road and crossing the forest to our destination where we could clearly see the Civil war rock. A big happening crowd awaited there already and immediately we booked our space with the bed sheet.
Well planned by the Patils.
Some men really need a little help from their wife to strech their smile way long.
The carvings on the rock depict three Confederate during the Civil War, Stonewall Jackson, Robert E Lee and Jefferson David.
One hour for the sun to wave us goodbye and we didn't want to miss the sunset overlooking the Atlanta skyline and Appalachian mountains.
Scenes from the top

Down we scurried for the laser show was to start in an hour. Incase you forget your blanket, you can view the fireworks and the show from Private Terrace with free popcorn and cold drinks.
Our face says it all, we had a fantabulous time.
Almost exhausted and cant wait for the bus to take us back to our tents.
Back to our camp ground before it gets more chilly we hurriedly collect the charcoal and some wood stocks to set up the bonfire. We all sat in ease over night long talks and heat.

The bon fire lit whole night and in no time we all were out including me to tuck inside the blanket first.
The Patils, fresh awake to prepare ginger tea.
While we slept whole night over a fight i don't remember. Mrs Anand was polite enough to bring us back to the same tent with tea to forget the gone and the
bygones.
The fire was gone, a new day has begun bringing us more close.
The happy Anands like never before.
The Patils, even more joyous.
We, more thrilled and crazy!!
And us like shadows like forever.
