Tallulah Gorge State Park, GA

I wanted to sleep and yet could not avoid the reminder message from my friends to get up on time. The plan was always executed to visit the Tallulah fall but was delayed due to unfavorable weather every time. So i had to drag myself up from bed rather annoying my friends. It is more risky to miff your buddies than your hubby(you can always make him up).
If you are craving for some nature bliss you can pick up this place. This famous fall tops the Atlanta's Bucketlist.
Starting at 11am in morning we left from Buckhead and it took us no more than an hour to reach there. Mayhem we saw some black clouds hovering on us already. I can't believe how can weather forecast dope us like this? A little drizzling wasn't bad and we got along with an extra buddy-the mighty umbrella.
Grabbing the map we marked the three trails
-North Rim Trails,
-South Rim Trails
-Sliding rock trail
Since we didn't had the whole day we decided to do the North Rim trail only. Unfortunately we lost our way and took the road opposite to the trail reaching the highway crossing under bridge. But still it was a good sight seeing the dam.If you have kids i warn you to be careful since everywhere the board says it can be flooded any day anytime plus the road was all slippery(may be due to little rain).
NORTH RIM TRAIL:
With 61 State parks in Georgia, this State Park is filled with over 20 miles of trails, the most popular are the Hurricane Falls Trail which takes you down to the suspension bridge and the North Rim and South Rim Trails.
Coming to the most interesting place at overlook 2 and 3, the moment you step here you are welcomed by an amazing sight, the Tallulah fall and the river flowing majestically through the terrain sheltering many of the species in its surrounding! One of the most spectacular canyon in Eastern US, Tallulah Gorge is 2 miles long and 1000 feet deep. This place is instilled with lot of activities to do fishing, mountain biking, bicycling, swimming, canyon climbing, archery, picnic and kayaking.
At overlook 2 is the beginning of 310 stairs taking you to the suspension bridge perched 80 feet above the Hurricane falls. Holy god! stepping down is always easy and never the up. As we walked down we could already see tired tourist and children sitting on the bench by side to breath in full. Again be sure your children are safe while trotting down since the stair art was bit mesmerizing to look down. Here we made our third stop on the suspension bridge swaying 80 feet above the ground with more spectacular view.

SOUTH RIM TRAIL:
After coming back from the suspension bridge you can climb down 221 stairs on your left to Hurricane falls.Be warned, the Hurricane Falls Trail involves over 600 stairs to the bottom. And once you get down, you have to get back up that same number either to the North or South rim. So bring some good shoes and plenty of drinking water, especially in the summer. And don’t be modest. If you want to stop and lay on the ground while complaining about how you shouldn’t have let your friend talk you into the hike, you should do it.
SLIDING ROCK TRAIL:
You can also go down to the sliding rock trail on the Gorge floor but of its difficulty only 100 permits are allowed per day.During weekdays and winter months, you can get there anytime within the first couple hours of the park opening and be guaranteed to get a permit. There are even some days where there are permits left over. But in the summer, you want to get there as close to opening as possible as the permits go fast. The Sliding Rock is true to it’s name and there is a small pool at the bottom you can swim in.
We were all happy to make it till here and since the weather was not in favor we didn't bother to make further down. Few strenuous steps again and we were back up to our respective parking lot.
Next we decided to satiate our belly and made our stop at Yonah Mountain Winery which is just 32mins away from Tallulah gorge state park. For amazing wine tasting experience complimenting with music this is the place. From sweeter white to bitter red we tasted almost 8 wines for $22. Genesis is the one they called their signature drink and girls are already having fun.

Worth the trip and after tired afternoon we were more than relaxed here. One amazing thing i discovered is the bathroom has great smelling bath salt to offer. So i can never forget a bathroom so welcoming wanting to scrub more of the salt and return refreshed.
