Scenes from winter in Chicago

2014, one of the best winter because we are driving to Chicago! During our stay in Cincinnati when prolong snowing made our days dull we decided to run away. A bit of thrill and lot of anticipation since i am going to stay with the Mukherjee couple who also happen to be Ani's best buddies Aritra&Ashika .

I normally get nervous attack when meeting new people and try reading them a lot at the first meet. My hubby knows how to evade my fear. So all the way driving he keep narrating me from how the three became friends to the fantasy tale of how the couple began dating, got hitched till the silly pranks and lot more laugh out loud incidents during their graduation days. And when he see me laughing he was half convinced i am excited now.

After an effortless drive passing through the afternoon sun, the windmills and bridges we finally heave a sigh when the Chicago toll gate arrived.

Finally at their doorstep, cosy as their home looked they received us whole heartedly.  At the very first look of them i could figure their love story wasn't just a tell tale but so true to feel its warmth.

Ashika was so eager to show her new spice collection from her trip in Texas and her new tea sets with special flavored tea to go . Tea positive like me cannot wait to sip it all.

The evening we gathered at a local bar followed by dinner to go from Indian cuisine. While we famished, Aritra bored us with his ultra working show off.

They are definitely so much in love and we seriously need to work hard into our romance.
Splitting the days into two and marking places to look around we drive the next day to Chicago.Though it was more of a friends re union we made it more social than an adventurous errand and Chicago being windy city one need full guts to stroll along the street during winter and i could help admiring the azures above.

Making a quick stop at big bowl, for authentic Thai and Chinese food to satiate our belly. New as this place adventurous it was. I was given the option to decorate my own bowl with choice of veggies from hundred options to be tossed and cooked with noodles. I quite dont remember what did i picked but eventually my pad thai was a taste to remember.

With winsome smile and satiated bellies we resume the drive. Ani surprised us all when he got us two bed suite room booked in hotel Westin River north right in the heart of Chicago!

A short rest and a quick shower with the evening settling down we choose the Trump International Hotel, a skyscraper condo-hotel in downtown across the Chicago river. We spend away the night over wine and talks with the magnificent 156 miles flowing through the greater Chicago.

Some of my fave clicks.

Day 2
Tired and exhausted from previous night we decided to make it quick and complete the millenium park. Grabbing our fave coffee we hopped down at the park and continued walking sipping and more talking. While i admired the man made wonders Ashika never got tired to take my pics.

The Cloud gate or more commonly known as the Bean have been one of the fave attraction point of Millennium park. Good job Anish Kapoor, that people all around the world come here to praise an Indian architect. I could not let go of the 168 stainless steel plates and seeing my reflections from every curve.

The Jay Pritzker Pavilion is also an eye catching design by Frank Gehry made from brushed stainless steel again. A great place for concert and events which can hold 11000 people with innovative sound system. But it belongs only to me give me a mike!

Looking around the snow clad Chicago was fun knowing you will be warm again with the companion of good friends.

Glad and satisfies i was relieved i am going back with memories of winter that didn't wear me out. A heartfelt thanks to Ashika (i simply fell in love with her humbleness) who took care of me like i have known her since ages. I look forward to see you again. Till then good bye Chicago.
