When dummy gets a bike!

Finally after lot of convincing his strict dad (who is equal to immovable property) Zeeshan got his red Passion Pro!  More than him I was happy and couldn't wait hopping on the back seat. His bike meant a luxury to us! Meaning no more waiting for bus, no more haggling with auto-rickshaws and walking on the pavements with Badarpur dust choking our throat. It meant exploring more of Delhi, more of highways and stopping at numerous joints at our own mood and cost.

As I walked out of our last class for the day(me already imagining on his bike) i realized i have befriended a dummy!

"Saala tu bus se kiu aaya?" I hurled at him when iI saw him que at the bus stand instead of taking out his bike key.

"Where is your bike?"

"Abhi chalana to sikhu, I am little scared", he muttered.

"To kya gulli mein chalayega?"

While he nodded his head looking for some answer; I stomped my feet in rage.

One month had gone and I still didn't get a glimpse of his bike except in his stupid cell phone image box. 'Drawing room mein saja k rakh de na' i scribbled on the notebook while the class was still going.

'i have learned to ride in my gully'
'wao you are superhero!', i scribbled again.

Now he kept updating me everyday about his confidence level he is achieving and how far he is riding from his home to the gully to outside the colony line till the Anand Vihar bus stop. He said he is getting a good hold on his accelerator and brakes.

"Laxmi nagar ki gulli mein chala kar tere ko confidence mil rha h?" I spit my anger, "tu kal gaadi nikaal road pe samjha" my patience gave away.

I didn't see a nod this time but next week he asked me to come to Laxmi nagar.

"For what?"

"I will give u bike ride!" he mustered courage to say this much.

"whattt???!!! are you serious?"

So bunking last two lectures we landed at the Laxmi nagar metro station. "You wait here i will bring my bike", he assured me.

Half hour gone and when i actually thought he doped me i call him up all furious, "kuttey meko ullu banaya?"

Vrooooom he zoom passed me, "Arey aa gya hun"

"Lunch kar rha tha kya?", I got even more furious.

"Bike dekh" he divert my curiosity.

I was already fuming hot with rage in Delhi's heat and without further wait i hopped on the back, "i want a long drive".

"But i can't go long distance" he was petrified.

"Meko nhi pata"

It was month of June, clear blue sky and without a feel of guilt and fear we rode from Preet vihar to Nirman vihar and more ahead to Anand vihar ISBT till Karkardooma. All of a sudden the sky grew dark and i start shivering, "ye kya h bey?"

"Pata nhi"

Okay no worries the clouds are changing colour, I assured myself.  All of a sudden I felt a hard hit on my head. Before i could look around to scold the naughty kids' dirty prank i got another hit and then a third and fourth and i realize i don't have to look behind or around but look up. It was coming from the sky.

"Oye ye kya h?", i forgot the bike ride but wanted to run now.

"Its a hail storm!" Zeeshan tried to be calm n composed, " i am trying to maintain my balance in this shitty storm"

"Zeeshu stop the bike somewhere"

"Arey kuch nhi hoga". In a second he transformed from common man to superhero!

"Ama tu helmet pehna h main nhiiiii"

He parked in the nearby straw hut tea stall, which welcomed me with muddy carpet. I had no option but to step on it and wait for the storm to cease. And when it did we jumped onto the bike again, "chal jaldi bhaga" i command before any more surprise amaze us. But to my dissapointment he was driving in 20km/hr looking left and right.

"kya hua?" i got worried when the superhero transformed back to timid Zeeshan.

"nothing, ek problem hai "

"ab kya?" i prayed under my breath.

"we lost our way"

I never dared to ask for another bike ride again.
